Lewiston is a village in Niagara County, New York, United States.  The population was 2,781 at the 2000 census. The village is named after Morgan Lewis, an early 19th-century governor of New York. It is part of the Buffalo–Niagara Falls Metropolitan Statistical Area.

The Village of Lewiston, NY (also known as Yehęwakwátha in Tuscarora) is within the Town of Lewiston. The Earl W. Brydges Artpark State Park lies at its southern border.

Lewiston is situated on the Niagara River, just across the river from Canada. It is half way between the world-famous Niagara Falls and historic Fort Niagara in Youngstown, New York. Niagara Falls is about a ten-minute drive to the south. Visitors from Canada can take the Lewiston-Queenston Bridge across the Niagara River.

Lewiston is known for its various festivals including the new Art of Ribs Festival in 2010 in conjunction with the 44th Annual Lewiston Art Festival.  Other festivals include the Historic Lewiston Jazz Festival, the Kiwanis Peach Festival and the Harvest Festival. Most are held on or near Center Street, the Village’s main street (18F North).

Directions

From Buffalo, NY/ Grand Island, NY

  1. Merge onto I-190 North towards Niagara Falls
  2. Take Exit 25A/ Route 265 towards Lewiston, NY
  3. Turn left on Military Road/ Route 265
  4. Turn right onto Lewiston Road/ Route 104 East
  5. Go straight down hill; bear right (18F) into center of Village of Lewiston
  6. Pass the Tops Supermarket on left hand side; Academy Park is adjacent on same side of street.

From St. Catherines, Ontario

  1. Merge onto the QEW towards Niagara
  2. Bear left onto Highway 405/ Exit 37 towards the Lewiston/Queenstown Bridge
  3. Cross Lewiston/Queenston Bridge; Highway 405E becomes I-190 South
  4. After crossing through customs, bear right onto exit 25 B/ Robert Moses Parkway
  5. Stay in right hand lane; bear right onto Route 104 East/ Lewiston, NY
  6. Go straight (pass intersection with light; Military Road) ; continue straight down hill; bear right (18F) into center of Village of Lewiston
  7. Pass the Tops Supermarket on left hand side; Academy Park is adjacent on same side of street.
